National Sports Day at DPS Tapi

News Flash from Tapi Tarang 2017-18

National Sports Day on 29 August commemorates the birth anniversary of Late Major Dhyan Chand of the Indian Hockey team. DPS Tapi celebrated this event by conducting Fitness Week from 28 August to 01 September 2017. Classes I-X students participated in various fitness activities this week on to develop their balance, endurance, agility, flexibility, speed and neuro-muscular coordination.

Class VIII–B students conducted a special Sports Assembly on 28 August 2017, disseminating information on Major Dhyan Chand and the significance of this special day. They recited a Hindi poem on sports and presented a skit showing interviews of famous sports personalities like Abhinav Bindra, Sania Mirza, P V Sindhu, Mithali Raj and Sakshi Malik to highlight their training, discipline, experiences and hardships faced. A Sports Quiz was conducted, followed by a dance showcasing sportsmanship, determination, endurance, agility and team spirit: “Good Players motivate themselves, Great players inspire others”.

Classes V-VI students participated in Inter House Innovative Sports Competitions with tyre rolling, skipping, throw ball and other interesting races. The winners are:
